The Reading Edge
Students work in teams of four or five to help each other build reading skills. They engage in partner reading, story re-telling, story-related writing, word mastery, and story-structure. Individual assessments are combined for ‘team scores’. Instruction focuses on explicit teaching of metacognitive strategies. Students are grouped according to their reading levels, rather than by age.
